Adelaide Fringe Festival 2008
22 February-16 March
Adelaide Fringe website.
Between February 22 and March 16, artists and performers from across Australia and around the world descend upon Adelaide. The snappiest comedians mingle with the most daring visual artists, who in turn brush shoulders with the sassiest of cabaret performers. Now in its 48th year, the Adelaide Fringe Festival is the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and, in a tradition that started in 2007, runs independently of the Adelaide Festival.
The program is bursting at the seams with events filled with imagination, creativity and fun. Check out the World of Wall Art, capturing the decorated streetscapes of several countries across the globe; learn a thing or two from Uncle Chop Chop about what's wrong with Australia in Heath Franklin's celebrated Make Deadshits History; and experience chilling suspense in the premier of Waterfront Theatre's Final Contract. There are a host of additional events within the Fringe, like the Adelaide International Buskers Festival, the Fringe Family Weekend and the Fuse Festival - two nights of the best new music coming out from across Australia. A festival that still wears its independent attitude proudly on its sleeve, the Adelaide Fringe will inspire all.
