Jennifer Aniston Stalks the Small Screen
Editorial ReviewEditorial Review
Jennifer Aniston is returning to the small screen: the actress has announced she'll guest star in an upcoming episode of the Emmy Award-winning sitcom 30 Rock.
Rumours started swirling that Aniston would go back to her sitcom roots after OK! Magazine reported that she was in talks with US network NBC to appear on one of their "high-profile" shows.
It doesn't get much more high-profile than 30 Rock, which was nominated for a whopping 17 Emmys this year - including best comedy, the award the sitcom won last year.
Aniston's publicist Stephen Huvan quickly confirmed the rumours, while NBC later added that Aniston's character is a "free-spirited, Fatal Attraction-like stalker" who attaches herself to network executive Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin).
"We're very excited that she's joining us," enthused 30 Rock creator and star Tina Fey. "Jennifer has what the young people would call 'mad skills'."
In 2002, those "mad skills" won Aniston an Emmy for best actress in a comedy for her work on the long-running sitcom Friends.
Aniston is the second Friends star to drop by 30 Rock: her onscreen love David Schwimmer appeared in a second-season episode, playing a crazy environmental activist nicknamed Greenzo.
