Break's Future is Bleak
Editorial ReviewEditorial Review
During Prison Break's first season back in 2005, many fans wondered how the series could survive on such a simple premise: a man concocting an elaborate scheme to get his brother out of jail.
Four seasons later those questions are still being asked... but now by the thriller's leading man, Wentworth Miller.
"I do feel as though we may be on one of our final laps around the track," Miller told website Digital Spy while promoting Prison Break's fourth season, which recently premiered on US television.
"[How long Prison Break will last] is something that weighs on my mind from time to time," Miller confessed. "Telling a story correctly necessitates knowing when to end it."
Miller stars in the series as Michael Scofield, who purposefully went to jail with the intent of breaking out his brother Lincoln (Australian actor Dominic Purcell), who had been framed for murder by a vast government conspiracy.
Michael achieved his goal at the close of season one, and the following two seasons followed the brothers and their fellow prisoners as they went on a lam across the US and wound up in a Panamanian prison (which they also escaped from).
"Eventually, you have to wonder when is enough enough because it really makes my character look bad," said Miller. "These are the questions that I think eventually we have to answer or else suffer a fall-off in terms of believability and quality".
